3 model homes catch fire in southwest Las Vegas Valley
Las Vegas firefighters are investigating Saturday after a series of southwest Las Vegas Valley model home fires.
Just before 5:15 a.m., arriving fire personnel units with Clark County and Las Vegas fire departments found two model homes on fire near Fort Apache Road and Hacienda Avenue. A third home was also being exposed to the flames, the Clark County Fire Department said in a statement.
Firefighters sprayed water from the exterior to douse the flames.
Two homes were frames only, which meant large amounts of unprotected lumber were exposed to high heat and flames; those homes were a total loss, the department said. The third home was nearly complete, with a roof and stucco; it was heavily damaged, the department said.
The fire’s cause is under investigation. The monetary cost of damage to the homes is undetermined.
