Pedestrian killed in crash with semi-truck in North Las Vegas
The North Las Vegas Police Department says a pedestrian was killed in a crash with a semi-truck Wednesday morning.
According to police, the incident occurred about 8:45 a.m. near East Cheyenne Avenue and North Pecos Road.
The female pedestrian, who was believed to be in her 40s, died at the scene, police said in a later news release.
The driver of the semi-truck remained on scene and did not show any signs of impairment, police said.
A preliminary investigation said the woman was walking southbound on Pecos Road with a green light, crossing Cheyenne Avenue on the west side of the intersection. The woman dropped some of her belongings in front of the semi-truck. As she was picking up her belongings, a traffic light cycle occurred and the light for eastbound traffic on Cheyenne Avenue turned green. Moments later the pedestrian was struck by the semi-truck, police said.
The identification of the deceased, along with the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office.
