Virginia City man accused of killing wife can leave state

VIRGINIA CITY — A Virginia City man who is free on bail after he was charged in the 2014 killing of his wife has been given permission to relocate to California to live with his son pending a preliminary hearing scheduled for March.

Storey County Justice of the Peace Eileen Herrington granted Bret Black’s request during a brief hearing Wednesday at the county courthouse in Virginia City.

KRNV-TV reports she ordered him to be monitored with an ankle bracelet as a condition of his release to live with his son, Bret D Black, in Madera County outside Fresno, California.

Black surrendered to authorities Sept. 8 after a warrant was issued for his arrest on an open murder charge in the death of Judy Black. He was released from jail on $250,000 bail on Nov. 18.
