Man barricaded in Harrah’s Laughlin Hotel surrenders to police

A man who barricaded himself for hours inside a Laughlin hotel room on Monday surrendered to Las Vegas police without incident.

Las Vegas police spokesman Larry Hadfield said that Laughlin division Metro officers were dispatched to Harrah’s Laughlin Hotel just after 1 p.m.

A man refused to leave his room and was heard inside breaking things. He barricaded the door of the room with hotel furniture and threatened to shoot anyone who entered, police said.

SWAT responded and eventually broke through the door. The man was taken into custody without incident at 5:47 p.m., Metro spokesman Lt. Dave Valenta said Monday evening. No information was released on why the man refused to leave the hotel room. His identity has not been released.

Before he was booked, the man was taken to an area hospital for cuts on his arms that resulted from his breaking windows, a TV screen and other furnishings in the hotel room, Valenta said.
