RENO — Crews on Tuesday were battling more than a dozen wildfires across Northern Nevada.

Lightning started most of them on Monday as a line of thunderstorms made their way across the state. Several are burning in remote parts of north-central Nevada between Interstate 80 and U.S. Highway 50.

There had been no reports of injuries or structure damage early Tuesday.

The largest, the Summit Fire, has burned about 4.5 square miles of rangeland 15 miles southwest of Valmy.

The Horse Fire has burned about 3.5 square miles about 50 miles south of Carlin.

Smaller fires were reported around Midas and Tuscarora.

In western Nevada, a half-dozen fires were reported in Washoe County, including a blaze of suspicious origin in southeast Reno that burned only a couple of acres before crews contained it early Tuesday.
