Unclaimed property up for grabs during annual auction
The state treasurer’s office will hold its annual auction of unclaimed property starting at 9 a.m. Saturday in the treasurer’s office in the Sawyer Building, 555. E. Washington Ave.
More than 325 items, including coins, gold jewelry, rings and watches, will be for sale.
The items can be viewed on the treasurer’s website: https://nevadatreasurer.gov. Click on the unclaimed property catalog in the “What’s New” box on the right-hand side of the screen.
Unclaimed property consists of items found in safety deposit boxes whose owners cannot be located. The state may sell this property after mandatory waiting periods, although the rightful owner or heirs later can claim the sale price.
Treasurer Kate Marshall said the auction last year raised $94,000.
The treasurer’s unclaimed property division is holding more than $432 million in property and funds.
