Police: Man hit by car in Saturday night accident was jaywalking

A pedestrian hospitalized after being hit by a car in the east valley Saturday night was jaywalking, Las Vegas police said.

The person, who has not been identified, was walking across Nellis Boulevard from the east to west, outside of a marked crosswalk.

Witnesses told police a 2005 Chevy Classic was traveling south on Nellis, 256 feet south of Sahara Avenue, and hit the pedestrian entered as they the right southbound lane at approximately 8:10 p.m.

The pedestrian was transported to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center with critical, life threatening injuries.

Two occupants of the Chevy — a man and a woman in their early twenties — claimed minor injuries and remained at the scene.

The collision remains under investigation by Metro’s accident investigation section.
