Plane lands on Volunteer Boulevard in Henderson; part of road closed

A section of Volunteer Boulevard in Henderson is closed after a small plane made an emergency landing on the road.

The XTR330, a private aircraft, landed a quarter-mile south of the Henderson Executive Airport runway on Volunteer near Executive Airport Drive, according to airport spokeswoman Christine Crews.

Crews was first notified about the rough landing at 11:50 a.m. Wednesday.

The pilot was experiencing mechanical problems and knew he would not be able to land on the runway, Henderson fire department Battalion Chief Doug Koopman said. Once the pilot landed the aircraft, he steered it into a fence to avoid entering the intersection.

There were two people on board who are uninjured.

The pilot made an emergency call to airport officials after landing, Crews said.

Harold Kaufman was driving near the intersection of Executive Airport at Volunteer just after the plane had touched down.

“It just crashed into a fence,” Kaufman said. “It looks like everybody’s OK.”
