Parts of Cheyenne Avenue, U.S. 95 to be closed this weekend
Crews working for the Nevada Department of Transportation are demolishing a portion of the Cheyenne Avenue bridge over U.S. Highway 95 in preparation for widening the span.
Cheyenne Avenue will be closed between Rainbow Boulevard and Tenaya Way from 10 p.m. Friday through early Monday morning. The department also is closing U.S. 95 at Cheyenne all weekend. Traffic will be diverted off and back on the freeway at the Cheyenne interchange. Motorists will not be allowed to access the highway from Cheyenne Avenue and are instead advised to use Rainbow Boulevard or Tenaya Way.
The bridge improvements are part of the department’s U.S. 95 widening project between Washington Street and Ann Road.
The most visible element of the project is the high-occupancy vehicle lane flyover that will carry traffic from U.S. 95 north to westbound Summerlin Parkway.
The work also includes loop ramps at Cheyenne Avenue and Durango Drive and improvements to the interchange at Ann Road and Rancho Drive.
