The Metropolitan Police Department says a 36-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash Wednesday morning in the east Las Vegas Valley.

According to police, the crash occurred at about 5:32 a.m. at Tropicana Avenue and Andover Drive.

Authorities said that evidence at the scene and witness statements indicated a 2017 Hyundai Sonata was preparing to make a left turn from westbound Tropicana to southbound Andover from the single left-turn-only lane. The driver of the Hyundai waited until the traffic signal turned from a flashing yellow arrow to solid yellow and eastbound traffic began to stop before making her turn.

The crash occurred as the vehicle crossed eastbound travel lanes, police reported, and the right rear of the Hyundai was struck by the front of an eastbound 2016 Kawasaki motorcycle.

Police said that according to witness statements, the Kawasaki accelerated into the intersection past the vehicles stopped on eastbound Tropicana.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police noted that the driver of the Hyundai sustained minor injuries and did not display any indicators of impairment.

The motorcyclist’s death marks the 11th traffic-related fatality in Las Vegas police’s jurisdiction for the year 2025.
