LV police: Armed robbers weren’t after apples

Two armed men were not in search of crops when they robbed the Gilcrease Orchard in the north valley on Saturday afternoon, according to Las Vegas police.

Officers were called to the orchard, at 7800 North Tenaya Way, between Farm Road and West Grand Teton Drive, at 3:41 p.m., Metro Lt. Ken Romaine said.

Employees were finishing their workday when two armed men showed up after the orchard closed.

A female employee standing outside the business was ambushed by the robbers and pushed inside to where an employee was counting money, Romaine said.

The gunmen fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money, he said.

Police were not sure if a vehicle was involved. Robbery detectives were on the scene on Saturday night.
