Former KJUL-AM radio announcer Scott O’Neil died on stage Thursday afternoon in front of about 500 audience members during a taping of "The Dennis Bono Show" in the South Point showroom.

Dennis Bono confirmed the death Thursday in a statement.

A representative for the South Point said O’Neil collapsed on stage about 2 p.m. His cause of death is unknown.

Bono said in the statement that he was saddened by O’Neil’s passing.

"Scotty was an important part of my life as both a personal friend and a working partner," Bono said. "For over 11 years, he has been a pivotal part of ‘The Dennis Bono Show.’ Scotty was a very talented, consummate professional and a man of great integrity and character."
