A 54-year-old man from Las Vegas was killed early Thursday when he was struck by a pickup while crossing East Flamingo Road near Bruce Street, Las Vegas police said.
Police said they are investigating the fatal accident, which occurred shortly after 5 a.m., when a 2001 Ford driven by Steven Phelps, 58, of Las Vegas, struck the pedestrian as the pickup changed lanes while heading west on Flamingo.
“Evidence at the scene and witness statements indicate the pedestrian was walking into the street from the north curb of Flamingo and was walking in a southbound direction across Flamingo,” according to a Las Vegas police news release.
The pedestrian, whose name was not released, was transported to Sunrise Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
