Henderson jail inmate found dead of apparent suicide

An inmate at the Henderson Detention Center was found dead of an apparent suicide Tuesday afternoon, city spokeswoman Kathleen Richards said Wednesday in a news release.

The 42-year-old man was found lying on the floor in his cell about 3 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene after officers attempted to resuscitate him, Richards said. Corrections officers found a suicide note in the man’s cell.

Richards declined to identify the man or say what charges he faced until he is identified by the Clark County coroner’s office, which will determine the cause and manner of death and notify his family.
