Fatal motorcycle accident that closed road near Lake Mead has reopened
A man is dead after his motorcycle went off the road in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area Sunday morning.
National Park Service Rangers from the Lake Mead District responded to a call at 7:41 a.m. and found an adult male approximately 40 feet off the road.
Rangers and paramedics from Mercy Air conducted life saving care, but the man was pronounced dead at 8:50 a.m.
Preliminary reports indicate speed as a contributing factor. The driver of the motorcycle was wearing personal protective equipment. National Park Service Rangers are handling the accident investigation with the assistance of the Nevada Highway Patrol.
Northshore Road was closed in both directions from mile marker 30-32.5 as the investigation continued but reopened to traffic at 12:30 pm today, according to a NPS reprasenative.
