Electric Daisy Carnival attendee died from Ecstasy overdose, coroner says

An Ecstasy overdose caused the death of a 24-year-old man at the Electric Daisy Carnival in June, the Clark County coroner’s office determined.

Nicholas Austin Tom of San Francisco died June 21, the second night of the electronic musical festival. His official cause of death was intoxication from the drug, also known as MDMA, the coroner’s office said Wednesday.

The night of Tom’s death, 135,000 people were in attendance at the event at Las Vegas Speedway.

Festival organizers Insomniac Productions extended sympathy about the death in a prepared statement in June.

“The health and safety of our fans is Insomniac’€™s first priority and we take every measure to create a safe environment,”€ the company said.
