The Southern Nevada Musical Arts Society plans to present J.S. Bach’s “St. Matthew Passion” at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall on the UNLV campus, 4505 S. Maryland Parkway.
The performance, under the direction of Dr. Douglas R. Peterson, will feature the 65-voice musical arts chorus,
30-piece musical arts orchestra, guest soloists and a children’s choir from Greenspun Junior High School, directed by Heather Houchens.
Members of the San Fernando Masterworks Chorale from Pierce College in California and their director, Terry Danne, are slated to join the performance.
Admission is $15 for adults and $10 for seniors, the disabled and military personnel and $5 for students with ID.

Clark county MUSEUM exhibit
SHOWCASES PUEBLO INDIAN CULTURE
From now until June 2, the Clark County Museum, 1830 S. Boulder Highway, is hosting a new exhibit, “Pueblo Indian Art: Ongoing Traditions.”

The Sun City Summerlin Musicmakers are set to perform “They Wrote The Songs” in May at the Starbright Theatre, 2215 Thomas W. Ryan Blvd.
The show will feature selections written by some of the 20th century’s most talented composers, including Berlin, Porter, Rodgers, Hammerstein, Gershwin and Ellington, and will feature dancers, percussion and woodwind instruments.

lion king performers to showcase dance at college of southern nevada
Dancers from Disney’s “The Lion King” at Mandalay Bay will present their choreography at 7 p.m. April 22 at College of Southern Nevada’s Nicholas J. Horn Theater at the Cheyenne Campus in a showcase entitled “Live. Love. Dance!”
Dance styles will include contemporary ballet, burlesque, tap, modern, gospel, jazz and hip-hop fusion.

former review-journal editor’s exhibit now open at left of center art gallery
A tribute to the photography of the late Review-Journal assistant city editor Warren Bates is at Left of Center Art Gallery, 2207 W. Gowan Road.
The exhibit is called “Road to Zzyzx.” Its images document deserted areas in and around the desert settlement. It is scheduled to run through June 4.
Bates died in April 2010 seven miles outside of the California ghost town of Amboy, more than 130 miles from Las Vegas, when a train broadsided his car. He was 49.

The Guilty Pleasures to perform

The Guilty Pleasures, a band that performs ’70s and ’80s soft yacht rock, is scheduled to perform monthly concerts starting in April. Shows are free and open to ages 21 or older.
