Literary Las Vegas

Las Vegas writer, illustrator, musician and publisher Pj Perez is on the road nonstop promoting his Pop Goes The Icon works at comic book conventions all over the country. This week, he’s headed to the Phoenix Comicon to plug his graphic novel "The Utopian," the story of James Douglas, a self-made emo teen superhero who takes on high school bullies and hides his identity behind caps, hoods and dark glasses. To see the book in its serialized online comic form, visit theutopiancomic.com.

Perez is also one of the driving forces behind the Vegas Valley Comic Book Festival, and he’s one of the editors for the festival’s benefit comic book. Last year’s "Tales From the Boneyard" featured local artists and authors riffing on the Neon Boneyard. This year, Perez is hoping to focus on another well-known downtown landmark.
