‘Floor-to-ceiling’ renovations planned for Fremont Street Experience
The city of Las Vegas will request millions of dollars in grants from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority to help fund a large-scale renovation of one of downtown’s primary attractions, the Fremont Street Experience.
The city wants up to $9.5 million to fund capital improvements at the Fremont Street Experience.
“Floor-to-ceiling” renovations are planned at the downtown attraction — the LED display dates back 14 years, Fremont Street Experience President and CEO Patrick Hughes told the council Wednesday.
The canopy attraction is privately owned by the Fremont Street Experience, but the pedestrian mall below it is public. The renovations will take place over 14 months, Hughes said.
Hughes will make a more in-depth presentation on a content plan in the future. Increased interactivity with visitors is one planned component, Hughes said.
“We need to keep the lights on, we need to stay ahead,” Hughes said.
