Reina T. Hohener has received the Citizen Award 2011 from the Knights of Columbus.

Hohener, a 2011 graduate of Bishop Gorman High School, plans to attend UNLV in the fall.

Hohener is the daughter of Stanley V. Hohener of Las Vegas.

David J. Gintert graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

A 2009 graduate of Foothill High School, Gintert is the son of Joseph and Kathy Gintert of Henderson.

Ian H. Lewis, 18, has achieved Eagle Scout status in the Boy Scouts of America.

He is a member of Troop 328.

Lewis is a 2010 graduate of Advanced Technologies Academy, where his major was computer-aided drafting and design and he was voted biggest social butterfly.

He enjoys music, hiking and backpacking.

Lewis is the son of Scott and Amy Lewis of Las Vegas.

Talyah Michele Sands graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science and the Arts with a Bachelor of Arts degree with high distinction.

Her major was psycho-social health with a minor in gender and health.

Sands is completing a master’s degree in public health at the University of Michigan School of Public Health in Health Behavior and Health Education.

A 2007 graduate of Las Vegas Academy, Sands is the daughter of Edee and Larry Sands of Henderson.

Matthew Nielsen, 15, has achieved Eagle Scout status in the Boy Scouts of America.

For his Eagle project, Matthew, a member of Troop 903, collected seeds from around the Lake Mead area with a National Park Service biologist.

A student at Coronado High School, he is a member of the marching band and drum line.

Matthew is the son of Robert and Dawn Nielsen of Henderson.

Meghan Hernandez, Richard Michelin and Nina Kuzniak, all of Las Vegas, were named to the dean’s list for the fall 2010 semester at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, Calif.

Sara Cavener of Henderson has been named to the dean’s list at Creighton University in Omaha, Neb., for the spring 2011 semester.

Cavener is a fourth-year pharmacy and health professions student.

Charlotte Bates of Henderson has been named to the dean’s list at Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, Pa., for the spring 2011 semester.

Daniel Schoenberg of Las Vegas was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2011 semester at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Fla.

Taylor Zajicek of Las Vegas has been awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Whitworth University in Spokane, Wash.
