Dining pick of the week: El Sombrero Café

You never know who you might see in El Sombrero Café. It serves generous portions to a who’s who type of clientele. Combination plates include enchilada and taco, two tamales with red chili beef sauce, three tacos, chimichanga, chile relleno and enchilada, and guacamole tostada and enchilada. Lunch specials include chile relleno, tacos, enchiladas, tamales and burritos. À la carte burritos are shredded beef, bean and cheese, chicken and cheese, beef in red chili, and chili verde (diced pork with green chilis). Special dinners are chili Colorado, carne asada (ranchero-style New York steak), beef fajitas and ranchero-style shrimp. Breakfast includes papas con huevos (fried potatoes, two eggs, choice of red chili beef or green chili pork) and huevos rancheros. El Sombrero Café is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
