Bicyclist critically injured in crash in western Las Vegas

Updated October 26, 2018 - 10:36 pm

A 63-year-old man was suffering from life-threatening injuries after a crash in the western Las Vegas Valley on Friday night.

Police were called to the crash involving a vehicle and a mountain bike at Decatur Boulevard and Cory Place, near Charleston Boulevard, just before 6 p.m., the Metropolitan Police Department said.

Police determined that a black 1989 Honda Accord was traveling north on Decatur Boulevard, south of Cory Place, in the far-right travel lane before the crash happened. A 26-inch mountain bike made a left-hand turn in front of traffic at the T-intersection of the roads, which has no traffic signals.

The Honda then struck the bicyclist, police said.

He was taken to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, police said.

The car’s driver, a 23-year-old Las Vegas man, remained at the scene after the crash and did not appear impaired, police said.

Metro’s collision investigation section was investigating the crash Friday night.
