On Thursday, Allegiant Air made a donation to the Vegas Community Pantry in Las Vegas. The food and drinks were commissary items that the airline had planned to serve to passengers who were flying to Sin City in March.
Vegas Community Pantry was started by Jeana Taylor, a performer with Cirque du Soleil. Performers were furloughed in March with the shutdowns due to the coronavirus pandemic.
She said she started a Facebook group, Vegas Community Pantry, to collect food items to donate. She and her husband run the pantry out of their garage, using volunteer drivers to deliver food to those in need.
Allegiant is headquartered in Summerlin.
