A man died after he lost control of the car he was driving in the parking lot of a Las Vegas apartment complex.

The car crashed into a metal pole and the front gate of the Calypso Apartments parking lot at 6501 Vegas Drive around noon on Sunday, the Metropolitan Police Department said in a press release.

Based on evidence and witness statements, Metro wrote in the statement that the 26-year-old driver of the 2024 Volkswagen Jetta “possibly suffered a medical episode, which caused him to lose control of the vehicle.”

The driver was taken to UMC Trauma Center, where he died from his injuries, the press release states.

His name has not yet been released. The case is under investigation.
