RELIGION NOTES

Green Valley United Methodist Church, 2200 Robindale Road, Henderson, will present a benefit concert featuring Geena Mattox (formerly of "Phantom — the Las Vegas Spectacular"), Juline Gilmore and Cheryl Johnston at 2:30 p.m. June 26. A freewill offering will be taken. The concert will support the church’s mission to build a well in Sierra Leone through the Raining Season nonprofit organization (454-7989).

Christ Episcopal Church, 2000 S. Maryland Parkway, will present a concert featuring the Thisted Church Choir of Men and Boys from Denmark at 7:30 p.m. July 1. Admission is free (735-7655).

EVENTS

The Word Alive Church Inc., 2412 Tam Drive, will serve meals to children free of charge as part of the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be served through Aug. 27 on the following days and times: breakfast, 9-10 a.m. Sundays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays; lunch, noon-1 p.m. Sundays and Tuesdays; and supper, 5-6 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays (684-5866).

Good Samaritan Lutheran Church, 8425 W. Windmill Lane, will have a car wash 8 a.m.-noon July 2 at the church. Proceeds will benefit the church’s Mexico mission trip. Tickets are $5 and are available after services (873-3589).

In honor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, a novena will take place July 8-16 at St. Bridget Roman Catholic Church, 220 N. 14th St. The Rev. Cornelio Jaranilla Jr., a Carmelite priest, will be the celebrant. Confessions will begin at 6 p.m. followed by a rosary recitation at 6:30 p.m. and Mass at 7 p.m. on weekdays. The Las Vegas Lay Dominicans will have their monthly meeting featuring prayer, formation activities and a Communion service, 10 a.m.-noon today at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Newman Community, 4765 Brussels St.
