TEE UP FOR KIDS TOURNAMENT SCHEDULED FOR JUNE 5 AT SPANISH TRAIL

The Public Education Foundation’s 12th annual Tee Up for Kids Charity Golf Tournament is set for June 5 at Spanish Trail Country Club, 5050 Spanish Trail Lane.

Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. followed by a shotgun scramble start at 7:30 a.m. Tournament activities include hole-in-one and closest-to-the-pin contests, tee prizes, first-, second- and third-place trophies and an awards luncheon. Playing spots are available for $300, and foursomes are $1,200. Corporate sponsorships are also available. All donations are tax- deductible.

The funds raised benefit Southern Nevada’s public schools through the Foundation’s programs and initiatives, including Clark County READS, the Teacher EXCHANGE, scholarships, We R Community, the Leadership Institute, Artists 4 Kidz and Project SMILE.

This year’s honorary chairmen are Sig Rogich and Olga Lyles. Tee Up for Kids chairmen are Jeffrey Fine, Andy Katz, Bill Martin and Tony Sanchez III.

GOLF TOURNAMENT PLANNED TO BENEFIT OPPORTUNITY VILLAGE

The 13th annual CMG Golf Tournament is planned for 7:30 a.m. June 7 at the Concord Golf Course at The Revere at Anthem, 2600 Hampton Road. The tournament is set to benefit nonprofit Opportunity Village, 6300 W. Oakey Blvd. The event includes a buffet lunch, greens fees, carts and the practice range. Dress code includes a collared shirt, soft spikes or sneakers but no denim. Tickets are $100 for single players, $400 for foursomes and $500 for a sponsorship, which includes one golf foursome, advertising and one tee sign/hole sponsorship.

FREEDOM FOR WILD HORSES GOLF TOURNAMENT SET FOR JUNE 7

The fourth annual Freedom for Wild Horses Golf Tournament is slated for June 7 at the Palm Valley Golf Course, 9201 Del Webb Blvd. Cost for a foursome is $400, and sponsorships range from $750 to $5,000. HOSPITALITY ASSOCIATION PLANNING CHARITY GOLF EVENT THURSDAY

The Las Vegas Hospitality Association has scheduled its 26th annual Charity Golf Tournament Scholarship fundraiser for Thursday at the Cascata Golf Club, 1 Cascata Drive, Boulder City. The event is set to start with breakfast and check-in at 7 a.m. and a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m. All money raised will go to LVHA’s scholarship programs.

For non-golfers, breakfast is $30, and the luncheon award reception set for 1 p.m. is $40. The cost to play is $200 per player or $800 for a foursome. Each foursome will have a caddy. REGISTRATION OPEN FOR SUMMER YOUTH CAMPS

Registration is open for summer youth camps (ages 6-15) at a variety of locations. Camp hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, from June 11 to Aug. 24. There will be no camps July 4.

The cost is $75 per child for the week and $70 for each additional child in the family.

Summer camps will promote fun, fitness, adventure and education in a safe and friendly atmosphere. Registration will close when the programs are full. All locations will have limited enrollment. Contact each location for details and enrollment. The locations are as follows:

SWIMMING LESSONS AVAILABLE FOR VALLEY RESIDENTS

Las Vegas Swim Academy has begun registration for swimming lessons. Private, semiprivate, Baby & Me and swim team groups are available.

Baby & Me classes are scheduled as follows:

8 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, June 18 through July 18

8 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 19 through July 19

5 p.m. Wednesdays, Aug. 29 through Oct. 17

All Baby & Me classes are 30 minutes long. Class size ranges from four to six students. The cost is $100 for eight classes. The pool is heated to over 90 degrees.

SPEEDWAY CHILDREN’S CHARITIES SCHEDULE GOLF TOURNAMENT

Speedway Children’s Charities is set to host its 10th annual charity golf tournament, Drive for Charity, at 8 a.m. Monday at Canyon Gate Country Club, 2001 Canyon Gate Drive.

ESPN and ABC NASCAR pit reporter Jamie Little will serve as the honorary chairperson. The event is sponsored by ESPN Radio Las Vegas, the Cannery, Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Vector Las Vegas.

Entry fee is $600 per foursome (or $150 for individuals) and includes golf cart, unlimited range balls, continental breakfast, awards lunch, golf shirt and gift bag. Tee sponsorships are available for $400 each.

All proceeds from Drive for Charity will benefit the Las Vegas Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities.

JUNIOR LIFEGUARD CAMP OFFERED

A junior lifeguard camp for those ages 12-15 is scheduled June 18-22, July 9-13 and Aug. 6-10 at the Pavilion Center Pool, 101 S. Pavilion Center Drive. The cost is $45 per week.

Participants will receive American Red Cross Adult CPR certification and learn essential pool lifesaving skills.

MARINE CORPS LEAGUE PLANS ANNUAL CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT

The Marine Corps League, Detachment 186, has scheduled its annual charity golf tournament for Saturday at the Wildhorse Golf Club, 2100 W. Warm Springs Road.

Greens fees of $90 include prizes, cart, a hot dog and a soda with a free lunch at the Leatherneck Club, 4360 W. Spring Mountain Road. Anyone making a hole-in-one will win a new Corvette. HARLEM GLOBETROTTERS PLAN SKILL CLINICS AT 24 HOUR FITNESS

Skill clinics with the Harlem Globetrotters comedy basketball team are planned from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 2 to 5 p.m. June 25-27 at 24 Hour Fitness, 2090 Village Center Circle in Summerlin.

Participants 6 to 14 are invited to learn about the importance of staying active and eating healthily, as well as seeing the Globetrotters’ basketball skills and tricks.

Clinics are also planned during the same times June 28-29 at the 24 Hour Fitness at 5651 Centennial Center Blvd. in northwest Las Vegas.

As part of the partnership, the Globetrotters will offer participants a voucher for a complimentary ticket to a 2013 World Tour game. Additionally, 24 Hour Fitness will offer free three-day passes.

JEWISH COMMUNITY CENTER SOFTBALL LEAGUE IS UNDER WAY

The Jewish Community Center of Southern Nevada’s Spring Men’s Recreational Softball League has begun. Games will be played at the Veterans Memorial Leisure Services Center, 101 N. Pavilion Center Drive, at 10 a.m. Sundays. Teams must have at least 13 players.

The cost to play for an individual is $70 for JCC members and $85 for guests. Full teams pay $700 for the entire team. The season is set to run through June, and each team will play 10 games, plus playoffs.
