Design Society to meet, hear stars of ‘Flipping Vegas’
The Las Vegas Chapter of the Interior Design Society will hear about A&E’s reality series “Flipping Vegas” during its next meeting, set for Friday at the Las Vegas Design Center.
Guest speakers at the meeting will be Craig Dye and Donna Johnson, interior designers and owners of Postcards Home at the design center and DRZine. They will discuss their experience on the season finale of the show, which will air Saturday.
Also attending will be the show’s stars, Scott and Aime Yancey. Aime Yancey is an interior designer. They will pass on their tips of what it takes to be a reality show designer.
The event will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a networking mixer, while the meeting will get under way at 10 a.m. It will be held in conference room C-176 in Building C at World Market Center Las Vegas, 495 S. Grand Central Parkway.
The Interior Design Society is the only professional association in the U.S. that is devoted specifically to the residential interior designer. Its members include residential interior designers, sales specialists, design-related businesses, interior design students, suppliers and manufacturers.

Artists to attend special event during upcoming market
Area interior designers are invited to meet artists James Burghardt and John Butler, who will attend a special event to discuss their work Aug. 1 at New Century Pictures at the Las Vegas Design Center.
They will be on hand from 3-6 p.m. in the company’s showroom, A-124, in Building A at the center located within World Market Center Las Vegas, 495 S. Grand Central Parkway.
Burghardt is a contemporary artist and digital painter. He combines traditional elements and modern themes to define current trends.
Butler combines creative images with unique media to create his art. He also is know for his innovative, handmade wall coverings.
The Meet the Artist event coincides with the Las Vegas Market and is not open to the general public. Their works, however, can be seen in the showroom after the biannual event concludes on Aug. 5.
