Sept. 1 marks fall watering schedule

The Southern Nevada Water Authority reminds Las Vegas Valley residents that fall watering restrictions will take effect Sept. 1 through Oct. 31.

Drought restrictions limit sprinkler watering to three assigned days per week. Drip irrigation may be used any day of the week, but is limited to three days per week. Sunday is not an optional watering day.

To confirm correct watering schedules, consult your water bill, or log on to the SNWA Web site, www.snwa.com.

Other restrictions:

* Prohibit sprinkler watering from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. until Oct. 1.

* Mist systems at commercial businesses may not be used (September through May).

* Fountains are restricted at commercial and multifamily properties.

* New grass is prohibited at commercial properties and new residential front yards.

* Car washing requires the use of a positive shut-off nozzle to reduce water flow.
