Japanese flower society sets workshop
The Ikenobo Ikebana Society of America will present a flowering arranging workshop Oct. 11 at Whitney Library, 55175 E. Tropicana Ave. Two styles of the Japanese flowering arranging art will be presented: Nageire and Shoka.
Nageire, which literally translated means “to thrown in,” uses tall containers without the use of holders and/or kenzans. A society spokesperson said this style requires a great deal of skill and experimentation to get the proper mechanics for each plant material used and the container.
Shoka represents a partial landscape.
