HEALTH Q&A: Ab work
Q Should I train my abdominal muscles every day?
A No. Muscle is muscle. Just the same as you should not work your chest every day, you should not work abs every day. Remember, muscle doesn’t grow during the workout, it grows during the rest periods. So adequate rest is needed in order to get the results you want. My recommendation is to give at least 48 hours of rest in between. I like to work abs one day, the lower back the next and then a day of rest. This way you work the anterior and posterior (front and back) of the core. A balanced body is a healthy body, and we don’t want to focus on just one side. So work hard, hit both sides, then let your body rest and rebuild.
