Gray Matters
You’ve heard all about the dominance gray will play this fall but still haven’t warmed up to the gloomiest color out there. Lucky for you, this neutral shade can be incorporated without completely committing yourself to it.
First, when in doubt, look to accessories. Not only will the price tag look more attractive, but the item doesn’t usually take the lead role in the overall outfit. Since shoes, such as these booties from Corso Como, are worn furthest from the face, you can ward off concerns of gray not complementing your skin tone. Select a style you particularly favor — open-toe platforms, knee-high wedge boots or patent leather pumps — to make wearing them that much easier.
Layering with gray offers another means of allowing a different piece, and color, to take hold of your attention. These leggings by Vince could easily be paired with any jewel tone, basic black or metallic garment to boost dismal charcoal.
Don’t forget about prints and patterns, two convenient ways of integrating gray in small, understated doses. Be it argyle, polka dots or zig-zags such as this M Missoni dress, gray gets executed but almost lost in the statement of the pattern.
