County sets fall excursion to Cedar City

The Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 S. McLeod Drive, has scheduled an overnight trip for people ages 50 and older to Cedar City during the fall season of the 2007 Utah Shakespearean Festival.

A motor coach will depart from the center at 8 a.m. Oct. 11 and will return at 8:30 p.m. Oct. 12.

Price is $168 per person for a double room and $210 for a single room. The price also includes transportation and show tickets. The deadline for payment is Sept. 10.

Participants will arrive in Cedar City Oct. 11 in time to eat a no-host lunch at the Pastry Pub before attending a matinee performance of “The Tempest,” William Shakespeare’s nod to magic and wisdom.

The group will check into the Abbey Inn and eat dinner at their leisure at nearby restaurants of their choosing.

After dinner, the group will see “Art” by Yasmina Reza, a contemporary comedic play.

On Oct. 12, the Abbey Inn offers a complimentary continental breakfast and there are free festival activities before a matinee performance of Agatha Christie’s “The Mousetrap,” the English world’s longest-running play.

After the play, the group will board the bus for the ride home, stopping in St. George, Utah, at the Cracker Barrel restaurant for a no-host dinner.

Payments by cash or check can be made by mail or in person at the Winchester Cultural Center’s front desk from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, or 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
