Inspirada hosts party for Make-A-Wish kid

Maya Cortes was still floating on cloud nine after a magical Make-A-Wish trip to Disney World when Inspirada continued to sweep the little princess off her feet with a Little Mermaid-themed party. Battling a form of kidney cancer known as Wilm’s tumor, the 4-year-old Inspirada resident was joined by about 30 guests for a poolside afternoon that served pizza, lemonade and live entertainment in Solista Park.

Because Maya is a swimming enthusiast, the festivities took place at the Solista Park swimming pool, one of four resident-only pools in the fully planned community. Matthew “DJ Matt” Beckwith donated his musical talent and played beach-inspired tunes, while Haggen’s Grocery Store manager Jose Todaro provided chocolate-covered strawberries — one of Maya’s favorite desserts. Maya’s family, including mother Denise, father Nathaniel and three older siblings, joined other Inspirada residents at the welcome-home party.

Inspirada has more than 2,500 residents. For more information, visit www.inspirada.com or follow the community on Facebook at www.facebook.com/InspiradaNV.
