Tomlin’s cast of characters returns

Anyone worth seeing has played Las Vegas, but Lily Tomlin waited 39 years before finally bringing her theatrical brand of comedy to town in 2009.

“I thought I wouldn’t go over in Vegas. I thought I was not showbiz enough,” she explained then. “I think it could have been true at the time.”

But it wasn’t true for fans happy to see Edith Ann climb into her rocking chair at long last, or to discover that telephone operator Ernestine found more timely employment working for a big health insurance company, denying coverage.

Tomlin brings her cast of characters to The Orleans, 4500 W. Tropicana Ave., for shows at 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Call 365-7075.
