Six Picks: Our experts pick their favorites for week of June 7-13

Bill Maher

Las Vegas is a big city, but it’s still good that Wayne Brady and Bill Maher are here one week apart. You can delve into the podcasty blogoverse to see why they are in a dustup, complete with threats of butt-kicking, but safe to say Maher can always provoke a reaction. He’s back at the Palms Saturday and Sunday for 8 p.m. shows. Tickets are $49-$89; call 702-944-3200.

Broncho

The first song off its debut record is called “Pick a Fight,” and that’s exactly what Oklahoma’s Broncho is out to do with its hooky, hard-swinging barroom punk rock ’n’ roll. Get a shiner at 9 p.m. Saturday at Beauty Bar, 517 Fremont St. Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 day of show; call 702-598-3757.

‘This Is the End’

It may be the most expensive Hollywood in-joke ever made. You don’t need to be overly familiar with the cast — Seth Rogen, James Franco, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson and Jay Baruchel — to appreciate the apocalypse comedy “This Is the End” when it opens Wednesday. But if you’re a fan, especially of “Pineapple Express,” this could be the most fun you have at the movies all summer.

Space Journey

Build your own Martian habitat, explore “Area 51: Myth or Reality” and more at the National Atomic Testing Museum’s Family Fun Day, “Journey Through Space,” from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Smithsonian-affiliated museum, 755 E. Flamingo Road — all for the bargain price of $15 per five-member family; it’s $6 for each additional admission ages 7 and up. For more details, call 702-794-5151.

Monday Pairing

Monday, Monday, how most of us hate Mondays. But here’s something that might make Mondays something to look forward to: the Monday Pairing at Andrea’s at Encore. It’s a lobster-salad roll with avocado, the Japanese condiment sweet kampyo and eel sauce, paired with a Lemon Kisu cocktail (sugar-cookie vodka, amaretto and limoncello) for $24, and only available on Mondays.

Calvin Harris

Calvin Harris will DJ Saturday at MGM’s Hakkasan nightclub, then again on Sunday at MGM’s dayclub/pool party Wet Republic. He takes with him a big bunch of pop hits — “Sweet Nothing,” “Feel So Close,” “I Need Your Love,” “Bounce” and of course “We Found Love.”
