Best Bet: Kids can enter Springs Preserve free

The Springs Preserve, a 180-acre cultural park designed to commemorate Las Vegas’ history, offers free admission for children during the holiday weekend.

The educational complex, located at 333 S. Valley View Blvd., is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily with hiking trails closing at dusk. The complex features museums with interactive exhibits, educational galleries, a desert botanical garden, hiking trails and an outdoor amphitheater.

Admission for Nevada residents is $9.95, $8.95 for seniors and $4.95 for ages 5-17. But through Jan. 3, admission is free for children accompanied by a paying adult. General admission is $18.95, $17.05 for seniors and $10.95 for children ages 5-17.

“Wings Over the Springs,” a live show featuring hawk eagles, falcons, owls, ravens and more, is presented at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through February.
