Red Rock Cabana Club aims to offer Strip-level quality close to home
Many Las Vegas pool parties strive to re-create the vibe of party spots that span the globe from Europe to South Beach.
And the vibe at the Red Rock Cabana Club? Think, Michael Martin suggests, a little closer to home.
"The atmosphere is a backyard party with your friends," says Martin, director of pool operations at Red Rock Resort, 11011 W. Charleston Blvd.
"It’s everybody you hang out with," Martin says, including many who happen to work at other pool events and prefer Red Rock Cabana Club for their own day-off, close-to-home summertime getaway.
"So it’s not ‘John from New York’ or ‘Bill from Boston’ or ‘Michael from California.’ It’s ‘Michael from Wynn.’ It’s very easy to mingle and find common ground with someone you’re hanging out with."
This year marks the fifth year for the party. The goal, Martin says, is to offer guests Strip-quality amenities and service without Strip-level prices.
A full-service menu is available, and guests also can enjoy patio seating at the resort’s cafe. Offerings range from lobster salad for a light lunch to French toast for breakfast.
"And we do have a full-service bar," Martin says, with a menu that includes signature pineapple drinks served in bamboo cups.
Guests can choose from among eight cabanas and 10 daybeds, available for food-and-beverage minimums that begin at about $300 for the former and $100 for the latter.
A roster of house DJs provides the music, furthering, Martin says, the mission of keeping things "funky" but "simple."
Also appealing to guests is that "you have a true sense of actual service," Martin says. "You don’t feel you’re here for nothing."
"People just come and spend the day," he said, taking — to use the overused term — staycations to experience Strip-like service "10 minutes from home."’
And, he adds, it’s all for "zero cover. We just want guests to come in and have a good time and just hang out."
Red Rock Cabana Club is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. For more information, call 797-7777.
