Yelawolf to rhyme at Ghostbar
“I come from the bottom,” Alabama rapper Yelawolf announces by way of a backwoods boast on his recent “Trunk Muzik 0-06” mixtape.
Like Eminem, the head of the label Yelawolf’s now signed to, the heavily tattooed MC makes a point of calling attention to his working class bona fides.
Unlike Marshall Mathers, however, his sense of humor isn’t quite as bayonet-sharp, which, ironically enough, makes him a little harder to take seriously. Still, with his cutting, nimble, party-hard rhymes, Yelawolf is worth paying attention to — not that you’ll have much of a choice as his star surely will continue to rise.
See Yelawolf at 1 a.m. Wednesday at Ghostbar at the Palms, 4321 W. Flamingo Road. Tickets are $20; ladies are free; call 938-9999.
