Get splattered by 3 Inches of Blood

No genre of music testifies to how much it totally rules quite like heavy metal does.

You don’t hear R&B singers, for instance, sounding off on how awesome they are simply for participating in R&B.

Metallers, though, tend to be the complete opposite, as self-referential as their hair is long.

And few bands embody this kick-ass conceit like Vancouver, British Columbia’s mighty 3 Inches of Blood.

Their songs are love letters to the glories of metal. (Note: Under normal circumstances, love letters are for sissies.)

They even titled their latest record, and fifth overall, “Long Live Heavy Metal,” you know, just in case frontman Cam Pipes’ windshield-shattering falsetto and songs like “Metal Woman” and “Leather Lord” failed to make it clear where they’re coming from.

“Do not interfere with us or you will feel the wrath,” Pipes’ wails on “Battles and Brotherhood.” “We will keep on marching down our chosen metal path.”

Fall in line, dudes.
