A Perfect Circle playing only U.S. show of year
A Perfect Circle’s tunes tend to sneak up on you, unfurling themselves slowly, as if the goal was to hypnotize listeners before abruptly shaking them back to consciousness.
Occasionally their songs sound like lullabies (“The Noose,” “A Stranger”), something to conjure nightmares instead of sweet dreams at bed time.
At other times, there’s a distinct metallic edge and sense of nail-biting immediacy in the band’s shadow-strewn repertoire, with frontman Maynard James Keenan frequently singing in soothing, meditative tones over tense, textured guitars and lugubrious rhythms.
This weekend, the band is playing its only U.S. show of the year, their tour itinerary as singular as their sound.
