The List: Latest DVDs, CDs, books, January 22

A look at some of the DVDs, CDs and books hitting stores this week:

DVDS

"End of Watch" (R): Two young L.A. cops (Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena) uncover a secret that makes them the target of a drug cartel in this drama from "Training Day" writer David Ayer.

Elsewhere, an investigative reporter (Matthew McConaughey) tries to prove an inmate (John Cusack) was framed for the murder of a corrupt Florida sheriff in "The Paperboy" (R), co-starring Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron. And Lauren (Lauren Anne Miller) and Katie (Ari Graynor), roommates out of necessity, become fast friends who set up their own phone-sex line in the comedy "For A Good Time, Call" (R).

Topping today’s TV transfers: "Method to the Madness of Jerry Lewis," "The Men Who Built America," "Finding Bigfoot" and "Scarecrow & Mrs. King: The Complete Fourth Season."

CDS

Bad Religion, "True North": The last song on their new record is called "Changing Tide" and that’s about the only thing that’s changed when it comes to Bad Religion.

The punk veterans have honed their sound to a bayonet-sharp point, free of chaff – or surprises.

As such, their 16th album is much like its predecessors, full of fast-paced social commentary for "True" believers.
