Lindsay Lohan causes stir at Sundance Film Festival

Leave it to Lindsay Lohan to show up at a film festival without a film.

While most stars show up in Park City, Utah, to promote films that are showing at the Sundance Film Festival, the 27-year-old former child star made an appearance to announce she plans on producing and starring in a movie called “Inconceivable,” which will start shooting in March.

Lohan told the Associated Press that the film is a psychological thriller about a woman trying to reclaim something she lost.

Accompanied by producer and financier Randall Emmett and a reality show crew from OWN, Lohan told reporters she was honored to be at Sundance for the first time and looking forward to a “fresh start.”

In other Sundance news:

– Matt Sandusky, son of former Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky, explained why he took part in a documentary about his father’s sexual abuse case.

“For me and all survivors it is important to have control over the timing and setting of (the) disclosure,” he told the Centre Daily Times.

– Katie Couric unveiled her first documentary, “Fed Up.” The TV talker teamed up with Laura David, producer of “An Inconvenient Truth,” to make a film that examines the epidemic of childhood obesity and its causes.

“Dexter” star Michael C. Hall, in town to promote “Cold In July,” said he’d wouldn’t rule out returning to TV in the role of everyone’s favorite serial killer if the circumstances were right. He also expressed some interest in playing non-Dexter roles on the small screen.

– Actor extraordinaire Robert De Niro honored his late father with a documentary called “Remembering the Artist Robert De Niro Sr.” De Niro Sr. was an abstract expressionist painter who found minimal fame in the 1940s and ’50s. De Niro said the documentary was originally intended as something for his family to remember his father by, but it was eventually picked up by HBO.

– Actress Anne Hathaway was on hand to assure everyone that she did not nearly drown in Hawaii recently and to promote her new film, “Song One.”
