Meat-eaters are in their element at Texas de Brazil steakhouse

It has the plush, woodsy ambience of a classic steak and chop house, with filet mignon, rack of lamb and the other cuts of meat meat-eaters love.

It’s the MO that makes Texas de Brazil Churrascaria Brazilian Steakhouse, 6533 Las Vegas Blvd. South, a bit different.

Diners are presented with a continuous array of skewered, mesquite-grilled meats tableside, and can partake of a 60-item salad area offering everything from romaine lettuce to tabbouleh and sushi.

The objective is to merge the heartiness and hospitality of Texas dining with the culinary traditions of Brazil, said David Parra, general manager of the Dallas-based chain’s first Las Vegas location.

The fixed price of $44.99 includes both meats and salads, while lighter eaters can feast on salad area offerings for $29.99. Neither price includes taxes, tips, desserts or drinks (which include selections from a 400-bottle wine cellar).

The restaurant seats 344. Hours are Monday through Thursday from 5 to 10 p.m., Friday from 5 to 10:30 p.m., Saturday from 4 to 10:30 p.m., and Sunday from 4 to 10 p.m. Reservations are not required but are “highly recommended,” Parra said.

Starters: Brazilian cheese bread, aged French cheeses.

Soups and salads: Steamed asparagus with strawberry sauce, Brazilian black beans with pork, lobster bisque.

Entrees: Brazilian sausage, roasted leg of lamb, Brazilian picanha, filet mignon, herb-marinated pork loin, chicken breast wrapped in bacon.

Extras: Sweet fried bananas.

Desserts: Brazilian cheesecake ($7.75), papaya creme ($7.75), chocolate mousse cake ($7.75).
