Business takes off at Landings at Henderson airport
The association between good food and airplanes has never been a strong one.
Landings, a national chain, seeks to change that. The company’s fourth tarmac-adjacent location landed at Henderson’s Executive Airport in August. It’s the first restaurant to open in the recently renovated terminal.
Think fresh American fare with a flare for derring-do such as the Peanut Butter Hamburger, inspired by a Landings customer who ordered one at Fox Airfield in Lancaster, Calif.
“We just thought it was weird,” says co-owner Marie Saady. “But we watched him eat it and we decided to try it as a special.
“People love it.”
Customers don’t need to fly to eat.
“Eighty percent of our business is from residents in the neighborhood,” Saady says. “They enjoy watching the planes take off and land.”
Only pilots have a better view of the runway, on which celebs Justin Timberlake, Tom Cruise and Ben Affleck have deplaned in full view of the eatery’s floor-to-ceiling windows.
The granite-based decor is heavy on hanging model airplanes and aviation art. Saady says she’d like to deck her servers like old-school flight attendants.
“I’m working on it,” she says.
The eatery at 3500 Executive Terminal Drive, Suite 100, is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. It seats 94, six fewer than a Boeing 717. Reservations are not necessary.
