Top Strip talent in HIV/AIDS event

More than 200 entertainers from shows up and down the Strip will join together to raise money for Southern Nevadans with HIV/AIDS during the Golden Rainbow “Ribbon of Life” show Saturday and Sunday in the Jubilee! Theater at Bally’s.

Scheduled to appear are performers from “American Superstars,” “A New Day,” Asian Pacific Performing Arts Alliance, “Chippendales: The Show,” “MGM Grand’s Crazy Horse Paris,” “Fantasy,” “Folies Bergere,” “Jubilee!,” “Ka,” “Le Reve,” “Mamma Mia!,” MGM Grand Productions, Missy Cochran Entertainment, “O,” “Phantom — The Las Vegas Spectacular,” “The Producers,” Pussy Cat Dolls Lounge, “Rat Pack,” Rio Bevertainment, Searcy Entertainment Inc., “Sirens of TI,” “Monty Python’s Spamalot,” Studio 54, Tangerine, “Tony Braxton Revealed” and “The World’s Greatest Magic Show.”

Last year’s show raised $275,000 for Golden Rainbow, a record for the event.

Showtime is 1 p.m. each day.

Tickets are $50, $75, $100, $200 and $250.

Guatemalan film to benefit hospital

The acclaimed Guatemalan film “The Silence of Neto” will be shown at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Whitney Library, 5157 E. Tropicana Ave.

Mixing magic realism and historical events, “The Silence of Neto” tells the story of a young boy striving to follow his dreams while his country struggles to preserve democracy.

Director Luis Argueta will attend the event to talk about the film, and there will be traditional Guatemalan music and refreshments after the screening.

Presented by the Lucrecia Sparks Foundation, admission is a $10 donation. Proceeds will go to the Hospital Hermano Pedro in Antigua, Guatemala.
