Weekend filled with comedy and song
The Mexican Independence Day weekend brings its usual crop of Latin-flavored attractions to the resort corridor, mixing new faces and perennial favorites.
One newcomer is comedian Gabriel Iglesias, the hefty — or as he calls it, “fluffy” — comedian of “Last Comic Standing” fame, who continues to offer a clean brand of stand-up. He performs with Joey Medina at 9 p.m. today and Saturday in Lance Burton’s theater at the Monte Carlo, 3770 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Tickets are $48.55-$53.95; call 730-7160.
Big-name musical events include a couple of heartthrobs. “The Colt,” Alejandro Fernandez, follows in the footsteps of father Vicente at 9 p.m. Saturday in the Mandalay Bay Events Center, 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Tickets are $70.25-$212; call 632-7580.
Luis Miguel has practically grown up at Caesars Palace, where he has performed since 1992. He holds forth at the Colosseum through Sunday. Tickets are $101-$191 for the 9 p.m. shows at 3570 Las Vegas Blvd. South; call 731-7333.
Durable Mexican rockers Maná close out at two-night stand with an 8 p.m. show today in the Mandalay Bay Events Center, 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Tickets are $71.30-$102.80; call 632-7580.
Marco Antonio Solis likely will have his huge repertoire of hits played by other acts this weekend, but sings them himself in 8 p.m. shows Saturday and Sunday at the Las Vegas Hilton, 3000 Paradise Road. Tickets are $71.01-$170.01; call 732-5755.
