The Tropicana celebrates the 60th anniversary of its opening with a monthlong series of special pricing and concerts in its showroom. It was the 12th resort to open on the Strip — 300 rooms built for $15 million.

Once upon a time — in the 1970s — the biggest news stories in the land were about The Mob and Las Vegas.
