Red Carpet Report: Playboy Midsummer Night’s Dream, ‘Legends in Concert,’ Shakespeare, Nacho Daddy
The Playboy Mansion upped its roots from Bel Air, Calif., and was re-created at Marquee Nightclub in The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas when Hugh Hefner’s Playboy Midsummer Night’s Dream turned it into an enchanted forest Saturday night. The lingerie soiree took place in two cities on the same night.
Partygoers dressed in their best, and least, sleepwear and lacy lingerie and were joined by an all-star lineup of Playmates that included Dominique Jane, Audrey Allen, Hiromi Oshima, Alexandra Tyler, Val Keil, Heather Rae Young, Shanice Jordyn, Anna Sophia Berglund, Ashley Doris and Kayla Rae Reid.
Shenanigans here took place at the same time as the Midsummer Night’s Dream festivities in The Playboy Mansion overlooking Beverly Hills. DJ Carnage headlined the night at Marquee as aerialists soared through the air and costumed performers strolled through the nightspot.
‘LEGENDS’ ONSTAGE
I’m going to make my Strip stage debut in November by hosting several shows from Nov.6-21 for LEGENDS IN CONCERT at The Flamingo. It really will be me and not a talented impersonator! The producers have agreed that my fee will be donated to Keep Memory Alive that benefits the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health.
My MC responsibilities will be to introduce performers portraying Michael Jackson, Garth Brooks, Tina Turner and Elvis Presley. I also will share anecdotes about them you might not have heard before.
HISTORY COMES TO LIFE
A 1623 printing of William Shakespeare’s “First Folio” opens to “The Tragedie of Hamlet” and is on display in the “First Folio: The Book That Gave Us Shakespeare” traveling exhibit from Folger Shakespeare Library that arrived today at UNLV’s Lied Library Special Collections.
The “First Folio,” published seven years after Shakespeare’s death, includes 36 plays, 18 of which had never been printed before. Titles such as “Macbeth,” “Julius Caesar,” “The Tempest” and “As You Like It” survive only because of “First Folio.” The exhibit, open to the public, will be at UNLV University Libraries on Thursday through Sept. 29.

IN MEMORIUM
Friends of just-deceased banker E. Parry Thomas are invited to attend a memorial celebration Tuesday at Encore. The occasion will include remembrances and reflection by family and friends. Steve Wynn often credited Parry for the loans he granted for starting his Las Vegas building boom of luxury hotels starting with The Mirage. Parry (June 29, 1921-Aug. 26, 2016) was a civic leader instrumental in the financing and development of our gaming industry.
He also is credited with shepherding the modernization of gaming regulations in Nevada. A mentor to Steve and many Las Vegas entrepreneurs, his vision touched Las Vegas. His efforts led to the creation of United Way of Southern Nevada, founding of Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, expansion of UNLV’s campus and construction of Boulevard Mall.
