NBA stars of tomorrow return to Las Vegas for 67 games in 2016 Samsung NBA Summer League

Editor’s Note: After a four-day visit to Madrid, Spain, Robin Leach has arrived in Italy for his annual family vacation. During his absence, Las Vegas VIPs have stepped forward to contribute guest columns in his absence.

On Friday, the NBA Summer League got underway for 11 days and 67 games of major basketball court excitement. Top players and teams and future stars put Las Vegas squarely at the center of sports action.

Albert Hall, vice president of Operations and founder of the NBA Summer League, takes over today’s guest column with an invitation to join in the action.

Basketball plus Las Vegas plus July equals Samsung NBA Summer League and a return to Las Vegas.

Twelve years ago, I started NBA Summer League with a half-dozen handshakes and a box of fliers. This year, the 11-day showcase features a 24-team field of NBA teams, among them 11 playoff teams from the 2015-16 NBA season.

A matchup between the Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Lakers, owners of the first and second overall picks, respectively, in the 2016 NBA Draft presented by State Farm, highlights the 67-game schedule at Samsung NBA Summer League.

The Samsung NBA Summer League continues to serve as the launch pad for future NBA stars such as Ben Simmons and Brandon Ingram.

More important is the economic impact that the event has on Las Vegas. It will bring more than 14,000 visitors, which translates into about $12 million in direct visitor spending.

That is what impresses and motivates me each year.

So bring your family, friends and co-workers to NBA Summer League this year and see what all the hype is about. Tickets start at $30 and can be purchased at NBATickets.com.
