Helene Neville’s ‘Sexxy’ sendoff at Westgate is set for April 22
We are a week away from the sendoff celebration for cancer survivor, nurse and grandmother Helene Neville’s final world record attempt. On Wednesday, she had her medical team remove a port from her chest ahead of April 22’s farewell that “Sexxy” star Jennifer Romas has planned at Westgate.
Helene then departs for Evanston, Wyoming, to get ready for her May 1 start of a 4,000-mile jaunt through 12 states before returning to the Strip in September. Helene’s story is far more than athletic achievement — it is a reflection of incredible courage, bravery, humility and an indomitable human spirit.
Helene’s run through Wyoming, Nebraska, Missouri, Kentucky, West Virginia, Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, Utah and returning through Nevada will end her runs across America.
Helene holds the world record for being the only cancer survivor and grandmother to run America’s perimeter north to south, west to east, south to north and east to west. Her trek began in 2010 and ended in Ocean Shores, Washington, on Sept. 5, 2015. The border-to-border transcontinental jaunts ended successfully.
Helene has begun her runs on the first day of May to mark Nurse’s Day. She ran an up-and-down marathon on 364 steps of the “Rocky” run at Philadelphia’s Art Museum, earning a fourth world record in 7 hours 30 minutes. In January 2016, Helene ran 135 miles back and forth on the Strip for another world record in 35 hours without sleep.
She is one amazing woman!
